Stakeholder participation is essential to the project’s success and to achieving long-term impact. In this regard, the DYMAN project recently contributed to the work of the BRIDGE initiative by presenting its approach, strategy, and experience during a dedicated project presentation session within the working group on consumer and citizen participation.
The BRIDGE initiative brings together Horizon Europe projects working on smart grids, energy storage, digitalisation, and energy systems, promoting collaboration, knowledge sharing, and alignment across thematic areas. Engagement strategies are a key topic within BRIDGE, as projects increasingly operate in complex ecosystems involving industry, public authorities, researchers and end users.
DYMAN’s presentation focused on communication actions and explaining how stakeholder engagement can support collaboration, acceptance of results and the long-term sustainability of DYMAN’s solutions.

A strategic approach to engagement
During the session, DYMAN highlighted the importance of early and continuous stakeholder engagement throughout the project lifecycle. It enables stakeholders to actively contribute to shaping solutions, ensuring their relevance and usability.
The presentation described how DYMAN identifies and maps key stakeholder groups, including data centre operators, technology providers, researchers, policy makers and energy system stakeholders. By understanding their roles, needs and expectations, the project tailors its engagement activities and communication messages accordingly.
Tools and formats for effective engagement
DYMAN shared examples of the tools and formats used to encourage interaction and dialogue. These include conferences, workshops, targeted meetings, technical sessions, and online events designed to promote feedback and exchange.

Digital channels also play a key role in DYMAN’s engagement strategy. The project uses the website, with its regular updates and newsletters, to maintain visibility and inform stakeholders about progress, results and upcoming opportunities for participation. This combination of physical involvement in conferences and digital participation through social media and the website helps to ensure continuity and inclusiveness.
Lessons learned and challenges
An essential part of DYMAN’s contribution to the BRIDGE subgroup was the suggestions made by attendees. The presentation emphasised that effective engagement requires flexibility and adaptation, as stakeholders’ availability, interests, and expectations can evolve. One of the key challenges discussed was the balance between technical depth and accessibility, especially when engaging audiences with varying levels of expertise.
DYMAN also highlighted the need to coordinate engagement activities with other initiatives, such as the EIC Cooling Portfolio and BRIDGE, to avoid duplication and maximise impact. Participation in BRIDGE provides a valuable framework for sharing best practices and fostering synergies among projects working on related topics.
Added value for BRIDGE and beyond
DYMAN’s presentation was perfectly aligned with the objectives of the BRIDGE consumer and citizen participation working group, providing practical insights based on real project experience. By sharing its approach, DYMAN supports collective learning within the BRIDGE community and strengthens engagement practices in Horizon Europe projects.
More broadly, the discussion reinforced the idea that engagement is not just a communication task, but a strategic process that supports innovation uptake, collaboration and long-term impact. The exchange within BRIDGE demonstrated how projects can learn from each other and jointly develop more effective engagement models.
DYMAN will continue to actively participate in BRIDGE activities, contributing to ongoing discussions and benefiting from the knowledge shared within the community. Through collaboration, alignment and open exchange, initiatives such as BRIDGE play a crucial role in amplifying the impact of European research and innovation projects.
