During the 26th and 27th March in Brussels at the European Commission CDMA premises it took place the “Sustainability Meets Scalability” roadmapping event on Renewable Hydrogen, Fuels & Chemicals organized by European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA)
The workshop totaled approximately 130 participants and the main topics covered were:
- From a societal need to technological innovation: policy, industrialization and investors session
- Solar-to-X devices: where are we now?
- The devices of tomorrow: with biotechnology, autonomous operation and computational materials science to fully sustainable devices
- Transition of technology to (social) innovation: techno-sustainability assessment, social challenges and opportunities and market considerations
- Standards, common metrics, fair benchmarking: key enablers for upscaling technology
It was an excellent time to gain a comprehensive overview of the current state-of-play of renewable hydrogen, fuels and chemicals technologies. It was also a perfect arena where to exchange knowledge with leading academics, visionary entrepreneurs, industrial leaders, policymakers, and investors. And to contribute to the development of an EU Technological Roadmap on Renewable Fuels and Chemicals.

The event also served as a place where to find partners for future collaborations and enjoy ample opportunities to network
PeCATHS Project EU was presented at attendees from industry, European Union institutions, national authorities, innovators and research communities. The project is developing an innovative energy storage system that combines two key technologies: liquid organic hydrogen carriers (LOHCs) and biomass conversión. Pecaths displayed its roll-up in an area promoting various European projects.
Stay tuned for more news on the project and its developments.
