EUSEW2026

European Sustainable Energy Week 2026 (EUSEW 2026) took place from June 9–11, 2026, in Brussels, Belgium, with a parallel online format. This marked the 20th anniversary of the event, which serves as the EU’s premier gathering for the clean energy community. Hycool_It was part of the booth where the SmartEnergyCluster presented its projects BUILDON, BUILD-OSS, BUSINESS2ACT, EnerTEF, Enpower, ESCALATE, EU-TRACE, EVELIXIA Project, GiDomus, GINNGER, Hycool_IT, LEG-UP, LiveBetter, PVSmile, ReLIFE,  REN+HOMES, Reschool, WILSON Project and Weforming. Also Hycool_IT was part of the webinar “2COOL2WASTE Webinar_The future of energy efficiency practical solutions for heat recovery and electrification”. The 2cool2waste projects cluster project cluster brought together 8 Horizon Europe projects to explore practical solutions supporting the future of energy efficiency, industrial decarbonization and NetZero technologies.

  • Theme: The event focused on “A clean, secure and competitive Energy Union,” addressing energy independence, grid strengthening, and the creation of a single electricity market amid global fossil fuel volatility.

  • Scale: It attracted approximately 10,000 participants both in-person and online, featuring 7 high-level plenaries, 50 policy sessions and an Energy Fair.

  • Major Sessions:
    • A special 20th-anniversary panel on June 9 featured former EU Energy Commissioners (Andris Piebalgs, Günther Oettinger, Miguel Arias Cañete, and Kadri Simson) alongside current Commissioner Dan Jørgensen to reflect on two decades of energy transition
    • Keynote speeches included Enrico Letta (President of the Jacques Delors Institute) and Dubravka Šuica (European Commissioner for the Mediterranean)

  • Core Topics: Discussions centered on five main pillars:
    • Competitive and secure Energy Union
    • Energy affordability
    • Renewable energy
    • Energy efficiency
    • Decarbonisation and international cooperation
      .

Sustainability Focus

True to its mission, EUSEW 2026 was organized as a paperless event with a strong emphasis on reducing its environmental footprint. Measures included:

  • Plant-based, local, and seasonal catering to minimize food waste.
  • Elimination of single-use plastics and promotional gadgets.
  • Reuse and upcycling of event materials like banners and badges.
  • Carbon offsetting through certified sustainable projects.

The event also celebrated new initiatives, such as the launch of the next cohort of 30 Young Energy Ambassadors.
